About The Author

In writing this critique of sports statistics and sportswriters, Stanley Frank speaks from the heart—and from experience. He spent 18 years as a New York newspaper sportswriter. As a CCNY student in the late 1920s he was an editor and columnist on the college paper, then college correspondent for the New York Evening Post and finally, after graduation in 1930, joined that paper's sports staff. A free lance since 1945, he is the author of two sports books as well.
