Lana Garner
SAN DIEGO

Kyla, a senior distance runner at the Marist School, tied a state girls' record when she won her 10th career title at the Georgia high school track and field championships. She holds state class AAA girls' marks in the 1,600 (5:05.41) and the 3,200 (10:57.00) meters. She will continue her running next year at Boston College. Lana, a senior on the Samuel F.B. Morse High track team, broke the CIF- San Diego Section 400-meter record by .20 of a second when she ran a 54:09 at the county championships. Lana, who will run for Tulane, also anchored the Tigers' sectional-champion 4x400 relay team.

Joan Skiff
LAFAYETTE, N.Y.
Skiff, a 67-year-old grandmother of 11, won eight skiing gold medals in 12 days when she swept the slalom, the giant slalom, the Super G and the downhill at both the International Master's Cup and the U.S. Ski Association Alpine Master's Championships.

Mike Rerick
GRAND FORKS, N.DAK.
Rerick, a sophomore pitcher at North Dakota, struck out 21 batters in a 3-2 victory over Mankato State to equal a Division II single-game record established by Ted Barnicle of Jacksonville State in 1975 and then matched in '76 by Bruce Berenyi of Northeast Missouri State.

Lisa Hosac
LITTLETON, COLO.
Lisa, a senior forward on the Heritage High girls' basketball team who plans to attend Virginia, was named Colorado high school sportswoman of the year for averaging 20.8 points and 9.8 rebounds a game. She had 41 and 17, respectively, in the Eagles' 62-28 defeat of Arvada West in the 5A title game.

Matthew Strickland
LINCOLN, NEB.
Matthew, a senior on the Lincoln East High golf team, shot a tournament-record 67, at the Highlands Golf Club in Lincoln, in the state high school championship and led the Spartans to their third team title in as many years. He hopes to play golf while attending SMU.
