Martina Maravcova

Maravcova, a junior at SMU, and Zuhal, a senior at Drury College in Springfield, Mo., each won three individual swimming titles at the Division I and Division II swimming and diving championships, respectively. Maravcova finished first in the 200-meter IM (1:55.81), the 100 free (48.18) and the 200 free (1:43.08), breaking by .2 of a second the NCAA record set in 1992 by Nicole Haislett of Florida. Zuhal won the 200 IM (2:05.14) and the 200 fly (2:01.77, bettering the record she set last year by half a second) and tied Tania Younkin of North Dakota for first in the 100 fly (56.53). Each was also named swimmer of the year in her division.

Damian Reid
SCARBOROUGH, ONT.
Damian, a 6'8" senior forward on the Bethune Collegiate Institute basketball team, had 24 points and 20 rebounds in a 67-12 victory over Oakwood C.I. in the Ontario AAA boys' high school championship game. He reached double figures in points and rebounds in 39 of the Bears' 40 games.

John Knuth
MARYSVILLE, MICH.
Knuth, 45, coached the Marysville High girls' volleyball team to a 15-10, 15-12 win over Charlotte High in the Class B state title match. The Vikings, runners-up in the state championships each of the last five years, finished the season 57-0. In his 13 years at Marysville High, Knuth is 507-62-32.

Tamiko Patterson
CHARLOTTE
Patterson, a junior commercial art major at Christopher Newport College in Newport News, Va., long-jumped 18'2�" and triple-jumped 40'�" to win both events at the NCAA Division III indoor Hack and field championships. She missed the fall semester while undergoing treatment for nephritis syndrome.

Terry Adams-Schmidt
KINGSBURY, NEV.
Adams-Schmidt, 41, cross-country coach at Lake Tahoe Community College, was named the U.S.A. Track and Field Pacific Association female runner of the year. She won the women's masters division in 15 road races, from the 8K to the marathon, and was first overall among women in three of them.
