The only Johnny-on-the-spot among the nominees announced last week for the 18th annual Sports Emmy Awards (to be awarded April 23) was NBC golf analyst Johnny Miller . Kudos to Miller, who deserves recognition. But what about Jon Miller , ESPN 's smooth baseball play-by-play man? And John McEnroe . CBS - NBC - USA 's opinionated (and usually correct) tennis analyst? Most inexcusable was the omission of Fox NFL analyst John Madden . As for Johns not nominated, thank heaven for small favors: NBC Olympic gymnastics host John Tesh didn't get the call.
