Shane and Tamika, senior forwards at Detroit Country Day and Duncanville High, respectively, were named the boys' and girls' Naismith national high school basketball players of the year. Shane, Michigan 's Mr. Basketball, who will play next year at Duke, led the 25-3 Yellowjackets to the Class B state championship for the third consecutive year and a No. 13 national ranking. He averaged 20.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 4.7 blocks. Tamika, who is headed to Tennessee , had 21.0 points, 10.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists a game as the Pantherettes ran up a 40-0 record, won the Class 5A state title and earned the No. 2 national ranking.

DECATUR , ILL.
Queen, 23, an amateur bowler with a 232 average, rolled a perfect game in the ABC Masters en route to becoming the third-youngest winner of the tournament. He beat out a field of 539 other competitors, both pros and amateurs, outscoring Eric Forkel of Tucson 248-194 in the final.

Danny, a senior third baseman at Iolani High, hit three home runs during a 20-run first inning in the Raiders' 30-3 win over Damien High. His third shot brought his total this year to nine, setting an Interscholastic League of Honolulu record for home runs in a single season.

Louisa Hall
HAVERFORD, PA.
Louisa, 14, won a squash national championship for the fifth straight year by beating Lindsey Wilkins, 14, of Bryn Mawr , Pa., for the 16-and-under title. Louisa lost only three points in her five tournament matches. Earlier she was fifth in the under-19s at the international Junior Olympics.

Cruz Pedregon
CAMARILLO , CALIF.
Pedregon, 33, a drag racer, was awarded the Premio de Oro for excellence among Hispanic athletes by the New York Hispanic Press Association. His personal-best speed of 312.71 mph, achieved on May 2, is the second fastest ever in a Funny Car. He is fourth in the NHRA Funny Car point standings.
