Powerlifting
Marisa, 15, won the girls' 15-19 age-group title in the 148-pound weight class at the World Powerlifting Association championships. She set three association records for 15-year-old girls with a bench press of 145 pounds, a deadlift of 300 and a total of 685.

Mark Spence, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Que.
Hockey
Spence, a senior forward at Middlebury (Vt.) College, led the Panthers to a 25-game unbeaten streak and a fourth consecutive Division III crown. He paced Middlebury in goals (26) and scoring (42 points) and was named the division's player of the year.

Timothy Goebel, Rolling Meadows, Ill.
Figure Skating
Timothy, 17, who was undefeated in junior events last year, landed the first quadruple Salchow at any level of competition and won the gold medal at the International Skating Union Junior Series Final. He's the first American to land a quadruple of any kind.

Bob Cummins, Everett, Wash.
Rowing
Cummins, a senior at Washington , stroked the Huskies eight to the Copley Cup title at the San Diego Crew Classic for the fourth straight year. In 1997 Cummins stroked Washington to a perfect season and a national crown and was a member of the world championship eight.

Charles Johnson , Gaithersburg , Md.
Basketball
Charles, a senior forward at Gaithersburg High, led the Trojans to the state championship in the 4A division, in a 96-91 five-overtime victory over Oxon Hill High. He played the entire 52 minutes and had 30 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots.

Peter J. Green, Bowmansville, Pa.
Dog Shows
For a record fourth time Green, 62, handled a best-in-show winner at the Westminster Kennel Club , this time with Ch. Faire-wood Frolic, a Norwich terrier. Green has groomed and handled dogs for 50 years and won his first Westminster best-in-show in 1968.
