Angelo Taylor , Decatur , Ga.
Track and Field
Taylor , a sophomore at Georgia Tech , won the men's 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA outdoor championships in 48.14 seconds, the fastest time in the world this year. A seven-time All-America in both indoor and outdoor competition, he was the runner-up at last year's NCAAs .

Lauren Stefanchik, Berkeley Heights, N.J.
Softball
Lauren, a freshman second baseman at Montclair Kimberley Academy, stole 73 bases in as many attempts this season. A first-team all-state selection, she batted .696 as the Cougars' leadoff hitter and scored 60 runs as Montclair Kimberley finished with a 21-5 record.

Orjan Larsen, Bergen , Norway
Golf
Larsen, a sophomore at West Florida University in Pensacola , shot an eight-under-par 280 to defeat Lee Kinney of Cal State - San Bernardino by eight strokes and win the Division II men's crown. He had three victories and six top 10 finishes in 12 college tournaments this season.

Jennifer Laughridge, Wilson, N.C.
Soccer
Jennifer, a senior midfielder at James B. Hunt High, scored 68 goals, a state girls' single-season record, in leading the Warriors to the AAA semifinals. She finished her high school career with 180 goals, also a North Carolina girls' record, and will play next year for Tennessee .

Michael Born, Des Moines
Basketball
Born, 32, a 6'1" guard, led Pella Windows to the men's AAU title, with 29 points in a 91-79 victory over the Dream Builders, also of Des Moines . He averaged 25.8 points in five games and was named the tournament's outstanding player for the third time in four years.

Jason Parker, Omaha
Air Rifle
Parker, 23, a specialist in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning , Ga., scored a world-record 700.6 points to defeat Slovenia 's Rajmond Debevec and win his event at the Munich World Cup of Shooting. His qualifying score of 598 out of 600 points was also a world mark.
