Colvig, 50, retired after 21 years of coaching at Willits High, during which the Wolverines won 12 Coastal Mountain Conference tides and went 132-9-2 in league dual meets. Willits's 1986 national record for highest average margin of victory (59.88 points) is still fourth on the alltime list.

Jeannette Cluskey, Edina, Minn.
Tennis
Jeannette, a junior at Edina High, won the girls' state championship by defeating 1997 titlist Judy Wang, a senior at Burnsville High, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 and led the Hornets to the school's 17th state girls' team crown in the last 19 years.

Tomas Sanchez, Fort Worth
Football
Tomas, a senior kicker at Arlington Heights High, broke the national high school record for career field goals with his 45th, a 48-yarder in a 27-26 loss to O.D. Wyatt High. He finished his four varsity seasons with 48 field goals and converted 131 of 137 extra-point attempts.

Kay Livick, Richmond
Cross-country
Kay, a senior at St. Catherine's School, won the state private school girls' title for the sixth consecutive year, running the 5-km course in 19:19. She has won the League of Independent Schools championship five times and holds school records in track at 1,600 (5:12.8) and 800 (2:20.0) meters.

Henry Brodt, Glenview, Ill.
Pool
Brodt, 51, plant manager for a metal stamping manufacturer, went undefeated in the American Poolplayers Association's 128-player amateur championship, winning the title with an 11-9 defeat of Dan LaVoie of Orlando in eight games of eight ball and 12 games of nine ball.

Emily Roy, Winslow, Maine
Field Hockey
Emily, a senior goalie at Winslow High, allowed no goals in 18 games this season and finished her career with a 94.5 save percentage. The Raiders won the Class B state championship for the second year in a row with a 1-0 double-overtime defeat of Gorham High.
