Sarah, a sophomore forward at Providence Christian Academy, scored two goals during the girls' Class AA-A state title game, in which the Stars beat defending champion Westminster High 2-1 to win their first state title in any sport. Sarah finished the season with a team-high 43 goals.

Robyn Niederkorn, Galesville, Wis.
Powerlifting
Robyn, a sophomore at Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High, won the girls' 132-pound class at the national high school tournament. She set American high school records in the 15-16 age group for squat (314.2 pounds), bench press (165.4) and total (810.3) for girls in her weight class.

Marshall McDougall, Valrico, Fla.

McDougall, a junior second baseman at Florida State, established NCAA single-game records for home runs (six), RBIs (16) and total bases (25) in a 26-2 defeat of Maryland. He also set an ACC mark for hits in a game (seven) and through Sunday led the conference in homers (24).

Bernice Orwig, Anaheim
Water Polo
Orwig, a senior goalie at USC, was named MVP of the women's national collegiate tournament after making 27 saves in four games to lead the No. 1-ranked Trojans to their first crown. She had 11 saves in Southern Cal's five-overtime 7-6 victory over Stanford in the final.

Paulo Barros, S�o Jos� Dos Campos, Brazil
Tennis
Barros, a sophomore at Hampton, clinched the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference team title for the Pirates with a 7-5, 6-3 defeat of Robert Beautelur of Florida A&M. The victory gave Hampton its first berth in the NCAA tournament, in which it was beaten by Alabama 4-1.

John McManus, Woodside, N.Y.
Track and Field
McManus, 75, a security officer, set a 75-and-over age-group world record in the indoor mile with a 6:42.03 at the U.S. masters championships. He broke the previous mark set in 1983 by Byron Fike, then 75, of Tallmadge, Ohio, by more than 12 seconds.
