Lifetime .318 average is second among shortstops to that of mentor Honus Wagner's .328.

Barry Larkin, 1986-present
Overshadowed first by Ripken, then by Garciaparra, Jeter and Rodriguez, Larkin was the most consistent shortstop of the 1990s, when he batted .303 while winning three Gold Gloves and an MVP award.
