WHO: Morgan Pressel WHAT: Sand wedge from 108 yards to 10 feet WHERE: 485-yard par-5 18th hole at Mission Hills Country Club WHEN: Final round of the Kraft Nabisco Championship WHY Pressel is an emotional player, but the beautiful wedge shot she hit to the 72nd hole showed that she can perform under pressure. Playing to a rock-hard green surrounded by water, Pressel used the right mix of timing, distance control, rhythm and ball striking, keeping her arms and body connected or working in unison. No wonder she's third in scoring average (69.90) and sixth in putting average. STEVE'S TIP Stay Connected on Partial Shots On short or partial shots, many golfers take a backswing that's too long, then decelerate through the ball, resulting in poor contact. Solution: Keep your arms and body connected, which promotes a shorter backswing and a complete follow-through. To achieve this consistently, practice hitting balls while holding a towel in your armpits (right). If the arms and body are connected, the towel will remain in place.
