Mike, a senior at LaPorte High, won the Foot Locker National High School Boys Cross Country Championship, completing the 5K course in 14:50 and winning by seven seconds. He won the Indiana title in 15:31.9, beating the field by 24.7 seconds.

NASHUA, N.H. > Field Hockey
Hlebichuk, 31, the field hockey coach at UMass Lowell, was named Division II coach of the year for the third time in five years. In that span she has led the River Hawks to five Northeast-10 Conference titles and appearances in the national semifinals, including an NCAA championship in 2005.

Courtney, a senior guard at Cohoes High, tied the national high school record for most three-pointers in a game when she made 15 in the Tigers' win over Schalmont. She averages 14.0 points and leads New York's Section II with 53 three-pointers.

GRETNA, VA. > Football
Nick, a freshman quarterback at Gretna High, ran for 1,367 yards and 26 touchdowns and threw for 2,096 yards and 23 TDs as he led the 14--0 Hawks to a Division II title; he was named Group A player of the year. Gretna outscored opponents 637--100 this season, including a 52--0 win over Gate City in the state final.

Luis Diaz Barriga
CORDOBA, MEXICO > Tennis
Diaz Barriga, a senior at Texas, and partner Kellen Damico won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Central Regional doubles title and reached the semifinals of the National Indoor Championships. As a junior Diaz Barriga had a 27--4 singles record and was named to the All-- Big 12 singles team.
