WHO: John Senden
WHAT: 50-foot greenside bunker shot to five inches
WHERE: 463-yard par-4 18th hole at the TPC at Deere Run
WHEN: Final round of the John Deere Classic

WHY
Senden won for the first time on the PGA Tour because his timing and rhythm were consistent from tee to green--his tempo never changed on shots of varying lengths. Leading J.P. Hayes by a shot on 18, Senden maintained his comfortable tempo while executing the most important bunker shot of his career. The synchronicity also allowed him to lead the field in birdies (24) and tie for second in greens hit in regulation (81%).

MICHAEL'S TIP
Use Spare Change To Master Tempo

Research shows that the stroke for a five-foot putt and a full swing should take the same amount of time from the start of the swing to impact. To fine-tune your timing, place a coin on the top of your putter and swing the club back and forth. If you're swinging in tempo, the coin will stay on top of the putter. Remember that rhythm, and transfer it to your full swing.

... AND ANOTHER THING
"It's selfish for Nancy Lopez to say that as a woman Michelle Wie has an obligation to play solely on the LPGA tour. Wie can do what she wants."
