QUARTER BACK
DONOVAN MCNABB
Eagles
vs. Giants
Last week's win over Houston
, in which Donte' Stallworth
and Reggie Brown
made
major contributions, dispelled any notion that the Eagles
have no quality
receivers. McNabb
, who has a 13-to-4 career touchdowns-to-interceptions ratio
against Big Blue, gets to exploit a secondary that Peyton Manning
picked
apart.
DAUNTE CULPEPPER
Dolphins
vs.Bills
His Miami
debut was less than stellar (no TDs, two interceptions), and
Buffalo's defense held Tom Brady
in check (163 yards, two TDs, one
interception). However, Culpepper
has better weapons at his disposal across the
board than Brady
--especially Chris Chambers
, whom Buffalo couldn't cover last
year.
STEVE MCNAIR
Ravens
vs. Raiders
He efficiently spread the ball around in dismantling the Bucs
on Sunday.
Against the Raiders
look for the former league co-MVP to put the ball in the
air more than the 27 times he did in last week's clock-grinding battle in
Tampa
. In 2005, playing for the hapless Titans, McNair
threw for 229 yards on
40 attempts against Oakland
.
DREW BREES
Saints
vs. Packers
Brees has to be feeling pretty good about this matchup after seeing Rex
Grossman fillet the Packers
' defense for 262 yards and a TD. Look for lots of
short dump passes and screens to Reggie Bush
, which will inevitably lead to a
bomb or two to Joe Horn
, who was nearly invisible on Sunday (two catches, 25
yards).
RUNNING BACK
JULIUS JONES
Cowboys
vs. Redskins
All eyes will be on Washington
's Clinton Portis
, who is expected to make his
first start in this game, but Jones
will steal the show after a stellar opener
of his own in Week 1 against a very tough Jaguars
front seven. Last season
Jones
averaged 4.7 yards per carry against a Redskins
team that allowed an
average of 4.1.
WILLIE PARKER
Steelers
vs. Jaguars
Fast Willie came up a yard short of crossing the goal line and thus having an
even bigger game against the Dolphins
last Thursday than he'd already had (115
yards). The strength of Jacksonville
's D lies in defensive tackles John
Henderson and Marcus Stroud
, so look for the Steelers
to run Parker to the
outside.
CADILLAC WILLIAMS
Buccaneers
vs. Falcons
Atlanta
could not keep Cadillac from the fast lane last season, allowing him to
run wild in both of the teams' meetings. In those two games Williams
, then just
a rookie, carried a total of 50 times for 266 yards and two touchdowns, plus he
caught four passes for 23 yards. Look for more of the same this time
around.
RONNIE BROWN
Dolphins
vs. Bills
The Patriots
duo of Corey Dillon
and Laurence Maroney
racked up 159 yards
rushing against the Bills. Brown was held to 30 yards against the Steelers
(though he had two TDs), but look for him to bounce back strong in Miami
's most
anticipated home opener since the Jimmie Johnson
era.
