Cost of a Card The price of
remaining at least partially exempt (top 150) on the PGA Tour has gone up more
than tenfold in the 19 years since Curtis Strange became the Tour's first
millionaire. In addition to the earnings that a player has needed to crack the
top 150, here's how much a Tour pro has had to win to finish among the top 30
(exempt for Players Championship and all four majors), the top 70 (exempt for
invitationals) and the top 125 (exempt for full-field Tour events).
Cool Millions
Strange became the
first golfer to earn seven figures in a single season, in 1988. Two years later
Lee Trevino was the first senior to crack $1 million, but it wasn't until 1996
that a woman, Karrie Webb, did so. This year 121 players made a million or
more. ? Champions ? LPGA Age Gauge
Jack Nicklaus and
Annika Sorenstam rank among golf's greatest champions, but Tiger Woods is on a
trajectory to exceed their accomplishments. Here are their running PGA and LPGA
win totals.
