Brandolini, a senior forward at Mount Vernon Nazarene, received the Michelle Akers Player of the Year Award from the National Christian College Athletic Association. A four-time member of the NCCAA East Region team, she scored 14 goals and had 16 assists this season, and has a school-record 70 career goals.

Brown, a senior outside hitter at George Washington, had her 1,000th career kill and 1,000th career dig in the same match against La Salle. She led the Colonials this year in points (521), digs (374) and kill average (4.29, second in the Atlantic 10), and was named second-team all-conference.

Corey, a senior quarterback at Lone Oak High, threw a national-record 91 touchdowns this season. His completion percentage (73.7%) and passing yards (5,872) are second alltime. He threw only four interceptions and led the Purple Flash to its first state final.

Michel, 29, the men's and women's cross-country coach at Western State, is the first woman to be named national men's coach of the year in any NCAA division. In her first year as head coach, she led the Mountaineers to a North Central Region title and second place at the Division II championship.

Walter Hines
BROOKLYN > Soccer
Walter, a senior forward at Franklin D. Roosevelt High, scored 10 goals, had 12 assists and was named to New York City's Public School Athletic League Exceptional Seniors Team. He was a Parade All-America last year and is a member of the New York Red Bulls' under-18 club team.

Brent Aussprung
MADISON, WIS. > Speedskating
Aussprung, 19, set two junior national records at the U.S. long-track speedskating championships, in the 500 meters (35.83 seconds) and the 1,000 (1:10.11). Two weeks later the reigning U.S. junior sprint champ improved his mark in the 1,000 to 1:10.03 at the International Skating Union Long Track World Cup.
