Mayers, Aucoin out of action; Thrashers claim Fata

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis Blues forward Jamal Mayers was placed on injured reserve Tuesday and will be sidelined six to eight weeks after breaking his foot in a victory over Calgary on Monday.

It was unclear when during the game Mayers was hurt. He played nearly 17 minutes against the Flames and had three shots on goal.

In 49 games, Mayers has 10 goals, 11 assists and a team-high 100 penalty minutes.

The Blues also claimed goaltender Craig Anderson on waivers from the Boston Bruins and assigned goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu and forward Trent Whitfield to the team's American Hockey League affiliate in Peoria , Ill.

Anderson was 2-8-1 with an .866 save percentage and a 3.90 goals-against average in 14 games with the Chicago Blackhawks .

CHICAGO (AP) -- Defenseman Adrian Aucoin is expected to be out of the Chicago Blackhawks lineup for four-to-six weeks with a shoulder injury, the team announced Tuesday.

The team said Aucoin dislocated his right shoulder Sunday in Chicago 's 5-3 loss to the Calgary Flames .

The Blackhawks also on Tuesday assigned forward Pavel Vorobiev to the AHL's Norfolk Admirals. He played in 39 games for Chicago -- scoring nine goals and adding 12 assists for 21 points.

Chicago called up defenseman James Wisniewski . He's played in 44 games for Norfolk this season -- scoring five goals and adding 21 assists.

ATLANTA (AP) -- The Atlanta Thrashers claimed center Rico Fata off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday.
